Replace workstops

My wife wants to replace the kitchen worktops,2x8ft and 1x6ft.This will mean having a gas safe fitter to remove and replace the hob and a plumber to remove and replace the sink. Not including the worktops and if you have had this work done what would you consider a fair price, thanks.

I would be inclined to ask three local credible tradesmen for written estimates to carry out the work that you require.

You could then judge what was a fair price for all the work involved, that you wanted to pay.

There will always be issues that could not be covered or forseen on a Forum.

If you need masons mitres cut, you will pay more than just having aluminium joints fitted.

Allow a day for a chippy including removing old tops, cutting mitres and cutting holes for hob and sink. So probably £150 - £200.

It's rare to find a gas fitter that doesn't do basic plumbing, so you wouldn't need to get a separate plumber. Allow another £150 for a gas fitter to decommission the old sink and hob and then return later in the day to refit them.

However, these are guesstimates and without looking at he job it would be difficult to give an accurate price.

Most start at 300 with 2 joints gas and sink, some are harder to do, if the tiles are staying on and if the tops are hemed in with tall units and dressers.

If you identify where you are located, someone may recommend a fitter.
