Just had my IPA form

Hi Scoot,
That does sound a lot but if it is any consolation, I didn't get a IPA but that is because, living in London, my rent is sky high - also I will have childcare costs for 3 years. Both of those things together take up a huge chunk of my wage which is fairly good really.
At least, in three years time, there is a prospect of being better off - I think that's what you have to hang onto when you start to wonder what you are working for.
I think I underestimated my I and E because my petrol bill is very high and I think I might need ideas on how to stick to £70 a week housekeeping for the three of us.
I didn't even put anything down for leisure because there wasn't anything left to put down. I do have the basic sky package and internet /mobile that was allowed though.0 -
Goldy if you cannot manage on £70 housekeeping then you must inform the OR that you are struggling. The idea of bankruptcy is to allow you to make a fresh start and to get on with your life. £70 per week is quite low for a family of three.
Can you not get these childcare vouchers? I don't have children but I have read about these vouchers on the benefits thread.0 -
Hi SAM,
I did see a newspaper article about childcare tokens. I will have a look at that - thanks.
I don't know what to do about the £70 a week housekeeping because everything will have to come out of that - even treats like going for a drink or a day out.
I think I will be able to do a little bit of freelance work which I can do at home hopefully.
I put down £5 for school trips,20 for emergencies and 10 for hairdressers,10 for birthdays and then the minimum for all the other stuff. Even then, I went over what I earn.
I can't find anyway cheaper to rent as what I pay is the going rate for a 2 bed flat and I need the childcare because I work fulltime and have no family around me.
On the positive side - I have no debts:rolleyes:0 -
Don't have contents insurance (i know i should)
Gas and electric are what I am paying on DD. Gas is actually in credit at the moment
No car
Live fairly near work so travel is not that high
No medical conditions (unless you count being overweight
)
No pets
Shouldn't you get contents insurance then? I have done without it for years because I couldn't afford it, but now I'm bankrupt I'm making sure its on my list of expenses so that I can be properly covered. I would get a quote and add it to your SOA, then apply once its been accepted.BCSC Member 70:j

I didn't think it sounded a lot really. Considering that it is £200 less than on the IVA, i think it isn't too bad. I don't think there is anything more I can add.0

Just spoken to the OR's office and they said I only have to let them know of income changes unil discharge. After that, it is only if I can not afford the IPA payments any more, e.g. lose my job, do I have to let them know income changes.
regarding the backpay I am due soon (posted about this a while ago, long-time members may remember) I only get a percentage taken off me. I'd say that's a bit of a result then as I thought it was all going to be taken0 -

The OR should make regular contact with you - maybe every six months - to establish that your circumstances have not changed. This will go on for the full 36 months. So, this is despite discharge.
Yet another incidence of incorrect advice. :cool:0 -

Yes it is correct!
An IPA form is usually sent out on a regular basis throughout the 36 months.
Also, there is a 21 day ruling on changes to income.
I cannot be held responsible for Scoot having a sloppy OR!
I forgot, I am not supposed to know anything because I am not bankrupt myself, I just work with bankrupts every day!
I was going to post the link to the relevant page but I am not going to bother. If Scoot wants to know he will have to pm me.0 -

I'm quite new to the BCSC so I'm not familiar with your posts, but I am curious as to what kind of work you do with bankrupts...that's if you don't mind me asking?
Thanks0 -
I do actually have a question about this. On the form sent to me it said that until discharge I have to let them know my income. Does this mean that they don't have top be notified about increases in income/bonuses etc after discharge?
As far as I am aware, Scoot, you ONLY need to inform the OR of any changes DURING your bankruptcy period - NOT after.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.
