"Smart Casual" Clothes Question..

I could buy a cardigan that would cover the bottom of the top. Honestly though, I'd rather not need the cardigan if I can get away with it. Money is quite tight so I'm buying what I need. I just don't have anything suitable in the house

Do you sew? If you do you can smarten up casual clothes very easily, like the top that is twenty pounds the one with the collar and cuffs, is very easily made by cutting a collar and cuffs from an mans shirt and sewing into a jumper or long sleeved t-shirt. Another way to smarten up a t-shirt is to simply add a smart scarf, or add a ruffle or a bit of lace. good luck

I know what this is for and have plenty of experience of applying for this place!
Don't try too hard at the interview/work trial as apparently they don't like that
I have no idea what they do want tbh. I thought they wanted confident people however by feigning confidence they still rejected me. Complicated company to figure out, think they just want teenagers who will do as told and not someone who actually wants to work for the company (said this multiple times, and meant it) (Of course they say they want someone passionate in the introduction but don't actually mean it!).
Also don't say things like 'I want to do xyz course' as they seem to think you'll be an expensive employee to train.
Act a bit interested but not much is my advice. I've been to 6 interviews of theirs so have a good idea as to what's involved if you want to ask me anything.
Sorry that sounds like a rant but I am not impressed with this company and their way of crushing people's dreams

If money's a bit tight is it not feasible to wear what you wore to the first one?0

I don't really look good in polo shirts! Lol. I'd rather they didn't find that out until they hire me & I get my uniform.
Umm.. How about this top: http://www.yourscontent.co.uk/Images/ProductImages/Big/1860c2a9-9dd5-4f80-a69c-4c348370c9d7.jpg ?
If need be, I can put a black cardigan with it.
I'm glad I posted this thread! I'm obviously looking at things that are too smart :S
i like this though0 -

The front is a bit too frilly and I worry it will get in the way
gibson123 - I'm afraid I can't sew very well at all! I would love to be able to create outfits like that though! Talk about a real money saver

Both those tops are appropriate, although I personally prefer the second one.
Good luck!0 -
Black trousers and any plain (no logos or picture but some sequins or sewn detail OK) t-shirt with back trousers and boots or black shoes would be fine. Do you not have any simple t-shirts already you could wear?0

Black or dark coloured trousers with a smart top - the 1st one you posted looks ideal. Low heeled boots or shoes.
Where I work the dress code is smart / casual so no jeans, denim, trainers, vest tops, shorts, sports wear, flip flops or would you believe it bare feet! Yes we are actually not allowed to come to work shoeless!
Good luck with the interview and don't be worrying too much about what you are wearing. By asking here you have obviously given it a lot of thought so hopefully that will come through. I bet you someone turns up in a tracksuit or jogging bottoms and then you'll feel better!
The most important thing is to feel comfortable in what you are wearing and this will give you confidence for the interview.0
