HSBC Depositing Coins

Hi All
I did a search for this on here and on hsbc and could not find an answer.
My mum saves her coins through the year and then usually goes to sainsburys and cashes them there. However that takes 12% so i "bought" them off her in paper money
I now have £160 in copper and silver to cash!
Does anyone know how many bags at a time they will let you deposit. I remember trying this about 10 years ago with difficulty but cannot remember the limit they said?
Many Thanks for any help

Also being a 'proper' bank I'd have thought they will take them over the counter. I've certainly paid several £100 in.
It's the ex BSs that are fussy0 -
If you live anywhere near one of the few Metrobanks, they also have free to use coin machines.

Banks dont like doing it for non-customers but will do it for customers providing its not silly amounts. Some branches do not have large safes and someone arriving out of the blue with £160 of bronze (i note you said some silver as well) at a smaller branch may find they wont take all of it.
It may have to be done over a period or with consultation with the bank so they are prepared. However, it really depends on this mix. £160 of bronze would be about 3 times more than the average branch would hold £160 in bronze is 8 cloth bags and 160 coin bags. It is a heck of a lot. If it is more silver than bronze then it is a lot easier.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. Thanks for your help. Unfortunately i'm 50 miles from any branch on that list
I'll just do a few trips then0 -
Last time I had a load of silver and copper, I took it to the nearest Morrisons, did my shopping as normal, and chucked the change in the hopper at the checkout. I don't know if every store has such a machine however.0

Lokolo's link only displayed the first post in a thread. Some additional branches are mentioned in later posts in that thread. Not that they will help you as they are all in cities and so less than 50 miles from other machines already mentioned.

HSBC in Berkhamsted have taken around £80-90 in 2ps and 1ps from me if that helps so I'm sure they'd do £160.
I realise it's a bit out the way for you but if you drive it's certainly an option. Either that or bag it all up and take £30-40 to every bank on your local high street, they will do it for non-customers providing it's not a large amount. You should be able to get it all done between them0 -
Try your local Newsagents as they may need it.
