Vinyl kitchen or not??

We purchased the oak style shaker kitchen units and doors from B and Q earlier. These are polypropylene wrapped MDF doors, 19mm. However is this better or another kitchen (beech style) which we were considering that is Membrane pressed PVC on MDF doors, 18mm. They are both the same price.

It sounds like the same thing. Both avoidable.

  • Are they the same thing?

We have bought what we can afford unfortunately.

Keep all sources of heat and humidity way from the doors or you risk delamination.

I dont want to scare you but vinyl wrapped doors run a real risk of peeling.

I've got something similar and it's not really a problem if you're careful. Just make sure you don't have a kettle or toaster underneath the units. The only place there has been any peeling is the door to the built in dishwasher and that's my own fault for leaving it ajar to let the heat out.
  • I am really worried about the Vinyl now

I suppose worse case scenario we can change the doors and use the same units/carcasses if needs be?

Yes, the doors can be replaced easily.

I wouldnt be too worried about it, just dont subject them to extremes of heat/water etc.
  • My kitchen if some sort of fake wood, not sure if it is vinyl but it was one of the cheapest ones sold by MFI when I bought it 9 Years ago ( was called Copenhagen at MFI but got mine from Howden) I haven`t had any problem with peeling, the only thing I have noticed is that greasy marks are very hard to get off.

We have wooden doors but the pelmets are some form of vinyl rap.

They are fine 19 years later.
