Hi all Any advice on the following would be much appreciated.
- I have just received a dress bought on ebay which was described as being in "excellent condition".
I found that the straps on the dress had been shortened which I am not too happy about. The result of the alteration is that the "arm holes" are really tight!!
I emailed the seller who refused to refund as she sold on behalf of a friend to whom she has already given the money and will not ask for it back.
So do you think I am being unreasonable in requesting a refund :j or is this a case of Buyer Beware???

I don't think you're being unreasonable if it didn't say in the listing that the dress had been altered. Can I ask how you paid? And if by paypal, did the listing have paypal's buyer protection icon in the top right?0

Hi and Thanks for your reply
Yes I paid by PayPal and yes PayPal buyer protection applies.
I will file a claim through them and see what happens.0 -
I agree with stavros..telling your seller that you're going to file a claim (chargeback) via paypal maybe enough for the seller to just refund you. It's got no bearing that she sold on behalf of a friend..not your problem-good luck!0

I agree with Dan, send them another message that if you are not refunded within the next XXXX (name a time period 24 hours for example) then you will file an official paypal chargeback which will automatically refund you if funds are available and lock her paypal (and lie a bit and say ebay account if they are a new seller) account to see if that scares them into refundingTitch

and i agree that everyone should be agreeing0 -
me too...there's not enough agreement in this world...don't you agree?;)0

sadly Paypal didnt agree
Even though the dress I paid £30 had been altered .....they decided that a refund was not in order.
Oh well - thats life - I can use it to wash the car with I suppose!
Thanks everyone for your help.0
