Furniture Village Sofa Peeling Surface

My sofa is only 3 years old and the surface is peeling off in patches. I called Furniture Village to complain only for them to tell me the sofa was discontinued so they are unable to offer a repair under the warranty. Apparently the best they can offer is a partial refund of £274. I am furious, the warranty is not worth the paper it is written on and Furniture Village should be ashamed. £274 is not going to buy me a new sofa. Surely they should have to keep spare parts available for sofas in warranty?

Did you know it could peal? Was it advertised as a real leather sofa? If so it's best to use the main thread for this on the subject.

If not, then they are entitled to reduce for wear and tear. You will not get a full refund to buy another sofa if you were correctly advised at point of sale. You will get a partial refund - expecting enough to replace the sofa is unrealistic if you were correctly sold the item0 -
Just because it is peeling oes not mean it is not real leather. Most leather these days has a coated finish which can peel over time depending on the type if leather it is.
I am not sure why they cannot repair just because it is out of production as most leather finishes can be replaced and refinished.
Do you have any photos of the problem?

Thing is they are allowed to offer a refund less an amount for the use you have had of the item. But we don't know whether £274 is a reasonable offer. Depends what you paid.

Hi
We bought a 3 and a 2 seater Alexis sofa in 2008 and the 2 seater has started to peel. I called up furniture village and said I have the guardsman policy but this only covers for accidental damage, nothing accidentally happened to cause the peeling so I did not call the guardsman. We bought the sofas thinking they were leather, how can they just start peeling like this. Anyway I called the store and they have arranged for a service guy to come and have a look and establish what needs to be done. Does anyone know what I should expect when they come round. Do I have a leg to stand on to get replacement. Leather should not peel like this. When asked the question in 2008 if real leather they said yes.
Any advice would be really appreciated.
Thank you.0 -

We had the same problems as others here
Went to the CEO eventually, and got all our money back, even after 5 years
Do not give up - email the FV CEO, get all your evidence0 -
is the CEO Peter Harrison? I Am about to contact him as I have had similar issues with settee peeling. Had a FIRA report produced and they blame my hair !! the patch of peeling is not where my head rests.0
