MacBook Pro Broken Glass Screen repair options/suggestions please?

Options
DD has managed to crack the glass screen of her 13 inch MacBook Pro!

Has anyone got any experience of the best way/company to use in order get it repaired properly?

FYI - We have Applecare, but I understand that it does not cover accidental damage. The laptop sadly isn't covered by home contents insurance either, so I am looking for the most cost effective and reliable way to get the glass screen replaced, as the LCD display is working fine in spite of said damage.

The 'best' way is to make an appointment at your nearest Apple Store and let them change it.
The 'cheapest' way is to buy the part on ebay and do it yourself.
Why would you need a new one? It's just the screen cover that's damaged.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

The screen is badly cracked and DD would like it repaired....Have read on forums that Apple repairs are really expensive. Wouldn't have the confidence to do something like this myself :)

So why don't you go to Apple and find out the cost beforehand?
If not then your only other option is an independent repair service.
I thought by 'a new one', you meant a new Macbook!

http://www.ifixit.com/Device/MacBook_Pro has repair guides and parts are available at http://www.applemacparts.co.uk or Ebay etc

Looking at the above I don't think the glass is replaceable on its own.

As you still have warranty I would ring Apple and get a quote before approaching an independent repairer.

Guy, for some thing you just have to use google, phone and not be lazy!

The glass is £30-ish, the lcd is £109-ish,
£150 to do a screen replacement in london - non apple store

Apple store price - well you just have to phone them.

    here is the diy repair
