Stairlift 5 year contract cancelled

Hi

I wonder if anyone could help me please?

My elderly aunt and uncle had a stairlift fitted from Simply Stairlifts in 2003 with a one year guarantee. The company contacted them in 2004 offering a 5 Years Silver Service for £999. This was a significant reduction on the normal rate (£333 each year) and meant that they would have the peace of mind that the stairlift would be serviced each year and a free call out service if there were any problems.

They received a letter recently from another company that say they carried out the servicing for Simply Stairlifts in the past. They also informed that Simply Stairlifts ceased trading on 12 February 2007. I have tried contacting them and the phone numbers are unavailable.

How do I go about contacting them for a refund on the 2.5 years of service contract that will not be honoured? Do we have a case here for any refund?

I am really cross because this has left them stranded for a service that they had paid in advance for.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Cobster
