halifax investment

just had my halifax personal investment manager phone up to say that halifax are to stop selling investment plans so he was asking if i would let him advise me and be in charge with my money when HE GOES SELF EMPLOYED as he is takeing redundancy from bank ... obviousley could be pit falls does any one have any advise of any kind many thanks .

    If you reported him it would probably mean his redundancy offer is withdrawn and he is sacked for gross misconduct.

    Forget him. Forget Halifax. Find a reputable IFA locally.

    It is not uncommon for tied agents to take certain key clients they have dealt with for many years with them. So, if you have a very good relationship and have dealt with him for a long time then you may prefer to continue that going forward if he is going IFA. IFA is the natural career path to progress to from lower roles like his.

    If there isnt a long term relationship between you then o4u's response above seems most logical. It is risky for a adviser still employed to canvas clients that belong to his current employer to ask them to effectively end their business. It can backfire and there has been legal action taken in the past by tied providers where this has happened.
