hi
previous owners in our home have a hole in external wall of utility room for their dryers. we dont have one at the moment but may get one in future. i have try to cover with cardboard temporarily. but the room is getting quite cold, obviously.
what is the best way to cover the hole, without sealing it permanently?

Cardboard is not going to provide much insulation! If it's masonry, it needs to be made good properly. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

As a temporary fix, stuff trg hole with fiberglass insulation and screw some boards inside and out .This will help but is by no means a permanant fix.
Good luck.0 -
Or stuff it with newspapers as a cheaper alternative, you could push a plastic carrier bag through to outside as a temp waterproofing, fill with newspaper and carboard over thatDo I need it or just want it.0

If you want to make it look pretty a extractor fan cover (or similar) might be a good idea for the outside wall.0
