Grrr, sold a phone this morning to Mr ajab, dodgy flat address in London.
He paid right away, so I sent a message saying thanks and that will be sent by courier on a signed for service to be with him Tuesday or Wednesday.
He messaged back saying gift for Mrs bobalo in another part of London will i send there as he is away till next Friday night.
I've replied saying no, will only be prepared to send to registered Paypal address and said does he want to cancel the purchase. I'm not prepared to go through the hassle of this.
No reply from him yet but if he says yes cancel, what do I have to do? Not done this before.
Many thanks for any pointers.

I think you can cancel the sale on the grounds that the buyer is asking you to send to an unconfirmed address. Either that or just send it to the confirmed address given to you by paypal.0

How to I go about cancelling it correctly to get my fees back?
In his story he said nobody will be at his dodgy flat address all week to sign for it, so I can't send it to him if no one there.0 -

You would need to send him a mutual cancellation request and hope he accepts. (Refund him first)0 -
I suspect the buyer will either ignore or decline the mutual transaction cancellation and having had their attempt to obtain the phone thwarted, will leave damaging negative feedbackfor the seller.
Personally, at this early stage, I would ring (not write to) eBay and explain the situation, who will probably suggest the mutual cancellation. Before doing so, I would ask eBay what should/could be done if the buyer using a non-registered paypal & eBay address follows up with the activities I've described above.
The intention is that eBay will have both a written record of the issue and will suggest a course of remedial action, if the worst case scenario occurs.
My hope is that having followed the explicit instructions of not sending to an unregistered address, eBay wouldn't both advise the seller to cancel the transaction AND expect the seller to live with any consequences of having faithfully followed eBay's instructions."The secret of life is honesty and fair dealing.

I would request the buyer's contact details. Chances are they'll have a fake number, so you can then report them to ebay and get the transaction cancelled.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

I imagine it will be a mobile and will immediately go to answerphone, which wouldn't offer any real evidence."The secret of life is honesty and fair dealing.

How do you know that the flat address is dodgy? If the address doesn't exist, surely that is grounds to ring ebay and ask for help to cancel the transaction?
What do you mean by the names "Mr Ajab" and "Mrs Bobalo"? Are those names ones you made up to preserve anonymity or do you have an issue with the names being non-British ones for some reason?0 -
I think you've either missed the point, or substituted it to fulfill a political agenda. How do you know that the flat address is dodgy? If the address doesn't exist, surely that is grounds to ring ebay and ask for help to cancel the transaction?

The question was rather clear and the concern appears to be sincere, and particularly valid since the item is a mobile phone, of presumably some value.
Had the names been "Mr. Allen" and "Mrs. Bloggs", the situation would be no different - neither would my response, nor I suggest anyone else's.... And I doubt anyone would have claimed the posting was anti-British to have utilised British names in the posting.
Lastly, there is a great deal of objective evidence from many varying sources to correlate a Nigerian origin with on-line scams, particularly those involving electronic items - notably phones."The secret of life is honesty and fair dealing.

They have not accepted my mutual transaction cancellation request, so what now? They have told me nobody will be home to accept the package that needs to be signed for, so no point in sending it out.
The names I have used a pretty much as they are, just changed a letter.
Please help!0 -
This happened to me on Friday.
I refunded the buyer and she paid again with the new address in the payment details. Try that, and if they refuse that, contact Ebay and ask them for advice - if they agree that you should not send, then they should remove any poor feedback the buyer leaves.0
