Dental insurance, Yes or No?

With teeth now being 50 years old, the regular trip to the dentist more often than not results in having to have expensive treatment (no NHS dentist). What are peoples views on whether to take out insurance - which spreads the load but still a significant cost.

Does anyone have any dental plan recommendations?

Complete removal of all teeth as a one-off cost is not something that I would like to consider!!

Does your regular dentist have a plan he/she promotes?

If they do, then they are used to the paperwork that goes with this plan, and there isn't likely to be any additional costs.

If it's some other plan that requires a different form to be filled in by the dentist, then some dentists charge for this, as ,to be honest, it can be a right royal pain in the butt somethimes looking through them all and trying to fill them in accurately!
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

Not the best Dental Insurance , more accidental , but you can get a year free from AXA ,

"No matter how carefully you brush, floss and rinse, it won't protect your teeth if you have an unexpected accident.

A sudden impact such as a door being unexpectedly opened or a trip on the pavement can cause serious damage even if your teeth are in perfect condition.

That's why the Dental Accident Starter plan from AXA PPP healthcare provides such valuable cover. It gives you access to fast, expert help around the clock, no matter where you are and JS Insurance are delighted to offer this cover free of charge for one year - there's no catch, so why not give it a try

Register here for your FREE cover
    Or alternatively call 0800 783 2453 quoting JST/49.

The Dental Accident Starter plan provides 12 months of free cover for the treatment of dental accidents that occur after you join. You can claim up to £250 for each treatment up to a maximum of four claims (£1,000) over the year.

When you join AXA PPP healthcare, all claims will be assessed against the terms and conditions of the plan.
