Anyone bother playing around with tyre pressures or just stick to the book?

So may car says for my tyre size:
2.3 front - 2.7 rear min - unloaded (34-39 psi)
2.7 front - 3.2 rear max - loaded (39-47 psi)
Hence 13 psi difference overall and 8 psi just across the rears.....
Changing tyres changes this again (If I use a different ratio tyre so I could use 19" rims and a lower profile tyre with a lower aspect ratio and wider rear rims 9.5J instead of 8J) this puts the limits even more extreme....
This is one car ... manufacturers recommendations.
And quite a finicky one (BMW)
Would it be dangerous if I correctly inflated my tyres to carry 5 passengers and some luggage and didn't deflate them on the way home?
The main limit is the tyre manufacturer rating saying 50psi max on the tyres.....
Equally since the 2.0L petrol has the SAME tyre chart and the engine weighs 1/2 do you not think the heavier 3L and 4L models might benefit from a 'more loaded' configuration?0
