Buying a genuine football shirt?

Hello all
Just thinking about xmas, and looking to maybe buy my OH a football shirt. He supports Leeds United. I know NOTHING about football - where do you buy football shirts from online? How would I know if it was genuine. Would I be better buying a Home or Away kit - are there always two different designs?
(I would just google it, but dont want him to see what I've searched in our history and it still shows even if I click 'clear history')
Thanks!

You can buy them from most online sports shops, or highstreet ones too. If you live in Leeds it will obviously be easier to get a Leeds shirt from the high street rather than if you lived in say Portsmouth.
There are always two, sometimes 3 different designs if the team plays in europe. According to their shop Leeds also have a second away kit. So they've got three, plus the GK shirt.
A home shirt would probably be better as thats the strip the team will wear most often. Usually the away kit is only worn if you're playing away and there's a colour clash with the opponents kit.
Here's a link to the mens home shirt on the LUFC online shop to save you searching
http://www.lufcsuperstore.com/home/product/adults-macron-home-shirt-short-sleeved-2012-13---standard-fit/colour/One-Colour
And assuming your OH is over 12 years old, don't get the name and number on the back. It's not cool.
HTH
ETA there's also usually a standard fit and a 'techfit'/'bodyfit'/'climacool'/'nike pro' shirt depending on who makes their kit. The standard fit is what most people will wear, so unless he's specified he wants a bodyfit one then avoid that.:j0 -

Definitely avoid the name & number on the back unless he specifically requests it. You see guys all the time at the pub getting stick because their well meaning wife/daughter/mum has gone and got them a shirt with their nickname/surname or something on :rotfl: You can probably take it in to sports direct or similar to get a name & no added after xmas if he wants one;)
Oh and to add, be careful with the sizing. If your OH has a bit of a tum or he's super skinny keep the receipt incase you need to swap it. The sizing on them tends to be a pain in the butt. My shirts range from kids sizes to an XL, and i'm nowhere near either normally  If he has an older shirt somewhere have a check of it and see what it is before buying because it may not be the size he wears in normal clothing

Maybe download and use a different browser for searching? Or download and use CCleaner this does not just get rid of the history but also 'cache' copies of web pages that might be what you are still seeing. Otherwise ask on the Techie board, being able to cover your tracks is useful!

My mum says to get a big one because then he can wear it over the top of some warmer clothes when it's freezing cold (she used to be a season ticket holder of a former Premier league team). I ordered her a shirt straight from the team's website. I think she'd sleep in it if she got half a chance...0

If you really want to cover your tracks, you could phone them (old fashioned, I know
)
If you are struggling for sizes etc the staff should be able to help you there too
From the LUFC website -

depends on how much u want to spend but a framed signed shirt would be cool. they vary in price and make sure u buy from a decent dealer. found this on ebay

Neither does your OH if he supports Leeds
:p:p:p (j/k Barnsley fan here so got to have a dig
:rotfl:)
Like others have said, LUFC have an official website, as do most football clubs, they nearly always have decent pictures of the strips too, to give you a better idea.
The best advice I can give you MP, is to actually go to a shop and just check the size, sometimes the sizes aren't actually what they say they are. i.e personally speaking as a laydee, I normally have a medium size, but a medium footy shirt swamps me. A small adult fits nicely and that's with a top on underneath IYSWIM. So it's better to check, although he wants something to wear over a jumper, he won't want anything that goes down to his knees. And I second the not having names and no's on the back. Waste of money.
And sometimes away kits are a lot cheaper, if you are budgeting.
I don't know where you are MP, but if you are near Leeds CC, HMV have a Leeds Utd section where they have all sorts of memorabilia and Leeds shirts.
BTW as a Tyke, I've surprised myself by not referring to Leeds as "weeds" during writing this :rotfl::rotfl::p...oh wait

I would buy one off Ebay, that is where I bought my Bolton Wanderers shirt a couple of years ago, so I reckon a LUFC shirt must be worth the same or less.:D0
