Noise pollution?

What are the laws from noise pollution from the pubs? It's now nearly 11.30 pm and they have the windows wide open and a live band playing drums etc. and singing, luckily it's a ok singer but its very loud. If there windows were shut it might not be as bad. I am not brave enough to go over and ask for the windows to be shut.
Now they have the crowd singing and they are bad.

Find the phone number if you don't want to turn up in person, and casually drop the next licensing meeting in the conversation if they turn awkward? I don't think asking to have the windows closed is unreasonable this late at night. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

They need a licence. Doubtless they have one. But you can complain to the council and when the licence is reviewed you can object.
However the bottom line is that pubs can be noisy.

When this happened at a pub near me I reported it to environmental health on the council's website. I just googled my council's name and noise pollution and filled out the form.
They called me on the Monday and took more details then spoke to the pub and then phoned me back. I also called the police on the non emergency number and asked them to drop in if there was a patrol nearby. The noise was past 1am though and their licence was only until 2330. They didn't risk their licence by doing it again.I'm a qualified accountant but please make sure you get expert advice as any opinion is made in a private capacity.

Laws are more about disturbance than specific times and volumes. Contact Environmental Health at the local council, also search Licensing at the local council, should be able to find the conditions attached to their public entertainment license online. The more residents you can get to complain to EH and keep a noise diary and / or complain to Licensing the better. You absolutely don't need to wait for a review or hearing nor should you have to put up with it.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

I live on a road with 3 pubs and in 10 years this has been the only problem, we are on route to a busy night club but its never caused any problems as have good double glazing but this noise is enough to go through it.
we tried phoning and they not picking up. I've filled an online form on the local borough site but just wanted to make sure that I am okay to complain after 11 or a set time if you know what I mean.
It's now nearly 12 and its still going with windows open, I will be having a chat with the neighbours tomarrow.0 -

There is no set time, they are not permitted to be as noisy as you appear to be describing at any time. Licensing and EH are two separate avenues to complain via. Take an accurate note of what time it start and what time it ended if it is a one off they might have a temporary license - if there are complaints they willl find it more difficult to get another.

Thanks for everyone's advice music is still going but they have now shut the windows so I can cope with that but I will be making complaints as its unfair.0

Cant see why one would call 101 over this just because their licence was 23:30 they could have applied tot he council for an extension or be hosting a private party or it could just be them and staff with the juke on. I wouldn't waste my time getting the police to go by taking them away from other matters. If it was that bad then a email to the licensing police team would have been more appropriatehappycamel wrote: »When this happened at a pub near me I reported it to environmental health on the council's website.
