in Techie Stuff
I'm looking at buying a 32 inch television for Christmas. It's a present and doesn't have to be all bells and whistles, the intended recipient isn't into techie stuff,
Anyway I was in Tesco today and saw a 32 inch Technika on sale for £178 which on the face of it seemed a very good price. On looking up the Which? website I found out why
A bit of a search threw up a Hitachi 32 Inch HD Ready Freeview LCD TV. coming in at £180 seems a very good price but then I stumbled across an earlier thread saying that
I know it is a matter of personal choice and how much you are prepared to pay but I'd appreciate a few recommendations for a reasonably priced 32 inch tv and of course any special deals you may know off

An old thread suggested a Clio from M&S but of course they have stopped doing televisions.Picture quality is poor with SD sources; even the built-in Freeview tuner produces noisy images with harsh edges and inaccurate colours. HD pictures threw up some horrifying errors, including colours that weren't so much inaccurate as plain wrong, a weird, pulsing effect when grass came on-screen, and nasty stuttery movement. We have, just about, seen worse, but the Technika could consistently be found near the bottom of each test when we came to analyse the results.

Tell me though when goods are re branded by the likes of Vestel do they have to live up to, in this case, Hitachi standards.

Buy adecent budget brand name such as LG or Samssung.
The rebadging jobs such as Technika will probably last a couple of years, and spares are never available, as the brand does not actually exist. No free lunch, and no free laptop

I bought a "techwood" which is morrisons brand 2 years ago for the bedroom and it is pretty good, cost 209 at the time but at the moment they are doing them for 179. Its not going to win any prizes, but for the price and for my use, its great. If the recipient isnt going to watch HD films or use for gaming im sure will be fine, infact im thinking of getting one for my elderly mother for xmas!Copy from one, it’s plagiarism; copy from two, it’s research.0
