Flat with Prepaid Electricity

Hi all,
I am moving to one bed flat with prepaid electricity meter. The flat does not have gas, so everything is electric. I am wondering what would be average monthly electricity expenses? The flat is in the first floor and there is one flat above us. I used to pay 75 pounds in a 2 bed ground floor flat for electricity and gas. The second question is that what would be the disadvantages of prepayment?By the way the supplier is eon.
Sharing your valuable comments and experiences are highly appreciated.

Best Regards

My daughter is feeding her payment meter at least £12 a week at the moment. She is all electric, with overnight charged storage heaters and water tank.

You could definitely pay less by monthly direct debit - but you may have to pay to get the meter removed, so you'd need to calculate whether it's worth it. Sometimes they under or over-estimate your monthly payment and you can end up owing more or paying too much.
With prepay you shouldn't be hit with suprises, as you pay as you go, but it isn't the cheapest option. You can't 'fix' your prices, you'll probably pay the standard variable tariff which is probably the dearest they offer!

Welcome! :) There is no such thing as an average it varies hugely from flat to flat. Depends how well insulated the property is, what your personal habits are - how long and hot your showers are, how warm you like the flat, whether you heat every room, how many hours a day you are home. Electric heating and hot water are much more expensive than gas and prepayment is more expensive than direct debit.

What form of electric heating is fitted?. If it's not E7 storage heaters, then it will be very much more expensive than gas heating (about 350% more per kWh).
PPM's cost the same as the supplier's Standard tariff.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
