Oh no!

Fireworks again tonight! Frightening the life out of my boxer pup Marnie.

Zara was fine all the previous years but today - she is trying to get under my desk which is just 10 cm off the floor......hmmm
  • If only fireworks were for one night only. Not weeks and weeks and weeks before and after November the 5th.

What a beautiful girl she is. Is she still limping or has that stopped now?

One of my GSD dogs (years ago) actually got into kitchen cupboard and I found her trying to get into a pan !when I got in from work.
I hate fireworks ,they cause such distress .
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.

Awww bless. :( Lulu (cat) doesn't mind fireworks at all, this year I even forgot I had the windows ajar until half way through the main event. She is very alert if there are noises in the corridor outside the flat tho, or if next door slams their door.

Many years ago we had a German Shepherd cross who was skittish, if she was off lead in the green space where we walked them and a car backfired she would take herself home!

Mine havent been too bad this year. Ralphie has been barking at the really loud ones (they virtually shake the house, its ridiculous) and we have told him what a good boy he is. We put on the woodburner which they both love, bunged them a big paddywack each to chew on and had the door closed to minimise sound plus the tv on. So they have done ok. Of course, different matter when you take them for their last walk and some idiot is still letting off those ones that whine as they go up - those are the ones they hate the most.

But be careful with your puppy that you dont reinforce fear from the noise. If you fuss her too much she is going to think that she was right being scared. Playing with her and sounding unconcerned and positive will be a better idea

It's worse over here in NI as they let off fireworks in July on 12th celebrations so literally from then on,it was quite bad a couple years ago but PSNI have really clamped down over the past couple years.
  • I have ignored the bangs and whizzes coming from outside and have not made a fuss or even spoken to my pup whilst this is going on. I want her to feel that the noise is something normal going on and not something to react to.
