Preordered carpet, but cheaper on collection, should they honour?

Hi all,
We recently ordered a carpet from Carpetright... 46sq metres at £9.59 ish. This price included a 20% discount and a 60% discount.
They called us today to say its arrived, but we missed the call and as we were close, we thought we'd pop in.
We noticed a new promotion today, offering the carpet at £8.99 a metre.
I queried it with someone and they dismissed as "luck of the draw"
As the carpet was only available today, do they have a duty to offer it at the lower price?
Thank you

But it didn't go up in price, it went down...
If I had received the item the day I bought it, then fair do's...but it was only available today, and now at a cheaper price!0 -
I think you have missed my point.
I guess it wouldnt hurt to ask, but if i was the sales person it would be a no. xRIP TJ. You my be gone, but never forgotten. You fell for a slick marketing ploy, these 60% offers etc mean absolutely nothing.
You could always ask, and ask to speak tothe manager, he is the only one with any clout.
not sure that you could cancel the order, did you leave a deposit.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
If it had gone up n price today, would you have offered to pay the higher price?Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

I doubt they'd go with it.
However,if you ordered online could you cancel and re-buy in store?
Glad they phoned you.I ordered a carpet (again with the discounts- not 60% though-,and for doubters it was a real discount as I'd been checking the same carpet for months-ended up saving £3.60 a sqm on a 30 sqm carpet) on 30th of October, was meant to be instore for collection between 7-10 days yet I had to contact them on Friday to ask where it was to be told it had been waiting a few days *rolls eyes*.
I've also been a cheapskate and arranged for a man and van to collect it because it's cheaper than their delivery :rotfl:If women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0 -
Damn,I've just looked and that carpet I ordered for ds room is cheaper in this weekends sale :rotfl: typical but not worth me asking them to change the price tbh!

So, imagine you're sat in a restaurant and you order the dish of the day.
The order takes 20 mins to arrive, and while you're waiting, they reduce the price, but you get it at the same time as those paying the cheaper rate. Is that fair? Are you not within your rights to pay the lesser figure?
I know people's opinions... ("If it went up, would you pay them extra?") but I didn't come here for opinions, I came for facts!!!

Except that you are ignoring the fact that the opinion expressed already is relevant. You paid the price valid at the time when you made the purchase. You can't have your cake and eat it !0
