OT Assessment for First Time Parent?

Hello.
Wasn't sure whether to add this to my other thread or start a new one so decided to start a new one as it might get more replies.
Earlier this year I had an OT assessment due to my disabilities which was very helpful.
I'm 36 weeks pregnant and my GP has suggested that I have another OT assessment to help with things to help me with baby when he arrives.
I was just wondering what sort of things the OT might be able to provide in this respect?
This is my husband and I's first child so I'm not sure what to expect or what can be provided to help me.:o
Thank you in advance.

Hi, the assessment will identify any aids or adaptations that could make your ability to self care (or care for your baby) easier, or care provision if applicable, see http://www.nhs.uk/NHSEngland/AboutNHSservices/social-care-services/Pages/social-care-adults.aspx0

All sounds good on paper! Unfortunately it isn't in real life.
Most council SS departments will now only consider funding if you are placed in the 'Critical' band.
Funding has been removed for those that were previously in the 'Substantial' or Moderate' bands.
'Critical' means, according to our council:
Life is or will be threatened
Serious abuse or neglect
Vital support systems cannot be sustained.
Good luck!0 -

Thank you.
I already had an OT for things like a bath board, rails, the sofa raised etc but I wasn't sure what help was out there for help with baby.
There isn't any risk of me neglecting my baby but it's just to make things easier and life more comfortable.you cant generalise.

The SS here is very good too. Just a shame the mental health system isn't as good (although still marginally better than where I come from!).wont be long now ladyM,hope all goes well x
