Pressure washer keeps cutting to low pressure

I bought a pressure washer from Woolworths (RAC one going for half price).

The water seems to come out at full pressure for a few seconds only before coming out very slowly - at a very reduced, tap-like, pressure. Anyone experienced this? Is it due to low tap pressure?

It switches itself off when the trigger is released. This mechanism can be fooled if there is even a minute leak in the high pressure side. Make sure the lance hose is done up with a spanner.

Yes - this could be the problem...although when the pressure drops the motor is still running...will get the spanner out - thanks

It could be that the water going in isn't constant or a very low pressure, ie kink in the hose or air bubbles. I think it's usually worse if the hose is connected up to a kitchen tap etc rather than a proper high pressure outside tap

Be careful to connect the water before you plug it in. Running dry can damage the pump.

I tested the washer at my parents house and it all seems fine.

The conclusion is that the water pressure of the garden tap in my house is too low! Any ideas on how to increase this pressure? Its also a nightmare using the sprinkler as I have to move it about 6 times whereas it could probably be done in 1 or 2 goes with a higher pressure tap.

(I checked the stop !!!! under the sink and it's fully open)
