My trusty HP inkjet is on its last legs - bought some 8 years ago for 25 HK dollars.
Because of the cost of replacement ink cartridges I now wish to progress to a laser printer - relatively inexpensive to buy and not too costly to replace the toner.
I have a laptop and also desktop pc. Ideally i would like to network both to the printer. Usage will be moderate but quite a number of colour photographs, colour reports relating to my husband's hobby (both downloads and his own written reports). I also print off colour address labels, Xmas present labels, own design Xmas cards.
Laptop runs on Windows 7, desktop on XP.
Thanks in advance.

Laser printers aren't the best for photographs. You will be disappointed with the quality. How do I add a signature?0

Thanks, I do know there are some limitations. However, I reckon I have spent £100s over the years on my inkjet and I think a laser will fit the other uses better. It might be that I keep the old HP inkjet just for photographs as the quality is pretty good.0 -
I saw this on HotDeals recently and it's still available at £56 for a colour laser. I normally avoid Dell and HP because of the high toner costs but this seems pretty reasonable on that front and it seems to get good reviews so worth a Google.

It certainly seems to be getting some pretty good reviews. Only thing I can't see mentioned is whether it will allow for double-sided printing (manual) which my cheap and ancient HP does.0 -
Use a mono laser for everything but the photos. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

I got the Dell 1250c from Tesco at about £50 and it is really good.
Toner costs won't be great but it replaced an inkjet.0 -

Sounding better and better. Is there an option to do double sided printing in the print preferences?0
