Bizarre post i guess and not sure if this in the right place but basically my wife is having a 40th birthday fancy dress 'celebrity' party in a couple of weeks.
We have a guy with a video camera interviewing the dressed up 'celebs as they enter the party and thought if would be great if we could have some of our young teenagers armed with a camera flash unit of some sort so that as our guests arrive and walkup to the venue on a v.cheap red carpet there are flashes going off which is caught on video.
So wondering if I can just buy some v.cheap camera flash units (not the camera) off fleabay? But will a camera flash unit work if no attached to a camera?? Any other ideas anyone could throw in would be appreciated.
Many thanks, Richwhit

if they have a test button they will
wont people be taking the odd digital camera, with flash, to save you the expense?
is there going to be a dj there, with strobe?

Cheapo strobe will help but will appear too regular to scream 'paparazzi'
Also look at cheap disposable cameras - the flashes work long after the cameras run out, so you may get a result if you can find a pile0 -
I'd go with the Disposable camera route!
It'll be cheaper in the long run (you can usually pick packs of them up cheap)
Also you never know you might get some good snaps from the kids ^_~Laters
