How do I stop my Acer 5685 laptop from auto dimming whilst watching movies etc?

Hi folks,

I think this is a simple problem on my acer 5685 laptop. Whilst playing movies etc I keep having to turn the display brightness back up to 70% or whatever I need from what looks like the 0% brightness level using "Fn" + "Left/Right Arrow key".

This happens on the battery (no ac power connected) and I assume something is happening in the power management (Acer ePower..) to say move it from one power scheme to the "Maximum Battery" power scheme say. Can I over-ride this somehow??

I assume it is just a simple check box somewhere I need to set.

Hope you can help

Jools

Nothing in my BIOS settings!! not that many on a laptop BIOS... I know what I was looking for based on what I have read in other forums.

Maybe I need to manually set a registry setting.

Control Panel -> power options takes me to the propriety Acer ePowerManagement software. NOT the windows xp power management panel.

Any1 know how to remove the Acer customised power management software and replace with the windows xp standard power management utils (I understand that the win xp power management panel has an auto-dim checkbox)

Started even having a look at the registry entries for the Acer ePowerManagemnt software and nothing there makes any sense.
