Blockbuster Postal DVD Duds

We have been using this for a little over two months and have now received FOUR dud DVD's. Twice we have gotten halfway through a film and the disk fails, and twice they wouldn't play at all. Four disks works out at one in three of the rentals we have received.
Blockbuster allow you to register that the disk is faulty online and they send out another, but that's no good on Friday night when you have two duds and nothing to watch all weekend. Plus it means they don't actually reimburse you. Even if they replace it, you lose days and therefore get less value for money.
To add to the annoyance, we have just passed our direct debit date, and we either lose it if we cancel, or have to keep with the sloppy service until the end of the month, even though they just keep sending knackered DVDs! GRRRR!
Maybe the cardboard sleeve just isn't enough protection, but whatever it is I don't recommend them!!

thanks for posting this, as I was about to join them tomorrow.0

I'd badger them for a free month - I've had plenty of discs that had fairly deep scratches on them but they worked fine. What !!!!es me off is not so much Blockbuster et all sending scratched discs out, but the pillocks who apparently take so little care of their DVDs that they end up looking like someone's used a brillo pad on them.0

I'm a bit cheesed off with them at the minute as well. The service noticeably slows down around holiday time but doesn't seem to have got up to speed after the bank hol. I had 'awaiting allocation' for 3 days last week.
In fact I used the lengthy delay to my advantage and downgraded my number of discs very close to the direct debit date which worked well.
I've been with them for approximately 8 months now and while the service has on the whole been good - I reckon it is worth taking a payment holiday at times like Christmas or a week at Easter because the service almost stops completely.
What I do like about them is that they reply to emails promptly and courteously. I had to email them recently because I'd had some old CSI episodes on my list since I joined and they never seemed to get sent. Their reply blamed the lack of stock but didn't promise to do anything about it. That's the main reason I down graded to 2 discs. I may even drop to just 1 disc because with lighter nights and whatnot there's plenty to do outside.Don't grow up. Its a trap!
Peace, love and labradors!0 -
Oh yeah I've had dud ones as well. They seem to go in runs. I don't get any problems for ages and then suddenly there are quite a few.Don't grow up. Its a trap!

We have been using the Amazon dvd rental by post for 18months and have been very satisfied. On the odd occasion we get a dud a quick e-mail credits our account with an added rental, with no fuss at allNudge nudge, Wink wink, Say No More!0

I'm pleased with Lovefilm at the moment. I've probably had around 100 discs from them and never had a dud.
Could there be a problem with your DVD player?Can I help?0 -
Aye ... def would give a huge thumbs up to Lovefilm too ... quick, efficient, including holiday times!! A good idea to shop around ... with the deals on offer it makes sense to jump about a bit too ... that way you use up the free months / weeks ... then after a little while you'll get sent offers to get you back! Work's nicely!!£10 a day in November = £593.31 / £3000

No, that was the first thing we checked. tried the disks on two dvd players and the PC and they stuck in the same place on all of them
They have almost all been visibly scratched, but some it affects and not others. For everything else, there's MSE :T0
