Privacy film for window

I live in a split-level ground floor/basement flat, with the bedrooms in the basement level. The main bedroom is at the front, and people walking up to the front door (including the neighbours who live upstairs, as well as the usual delivery people etc) have a clear view into our bedroom.
We are not very happy with this, so I have been considering getting some one-way window film. However, the rooms in the lower level need all the light they can get and so I'm a bit wary of reducing the light flowing into the room.
I was wondering if anyone has any advice on which product would be most suitable. Most of the options I've seen claim to reduce the glare coming in from outside, but I'm not interested in that aspect.
Also, it's a rented flat so I don't want to do anything permanent or spend too much.

Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning

Whatever method you choose to use it will reduce the light levels somewhat.
This film is very easy to remove when you decide to leave the flat.0
