Do you not listen or read comments properly, Custardy? Normally users on here come across as approachable and understanding.

You appear to be the opposite. Furthermore, the direct debit was taken prior to the due date of fees anyway having just checked the dates in question.

Therefore your point is null and void. Please don't waste my time by commenting again, I await a response from someone with a decent level of comprehension of the issue described.

In fairness you have all the responses you are likely to get, im sure many will prefer not to be involved if you post saying anyone unhelpful shouldnt bother. Yes I'm sure there will be people who will be happy to post merely to agree that eBay are nasty or have treated you badly. However I cannot see how such posts can help you.

You need to pay the fees now, plus the charges before it gets passed to a debt collector. By all means telephone eBay and try and get some of the charges wiped, but be apologetic, tell them you appreciate your mistake and will be more careful in future. If you go in accusing them of having done something they haven't then I doubt you will get far

It is also very unlikely that ebay will have been taken before due date so I would double check that

You can't just cancel a direct debit with your bank and not tell the person it was with and arrange a new payment method.

Custardy was right - you are to blame - pay up.
