cash on collection

i sold some fish on e-bay which is collection only.the buyer wants to pay by paypal is better for me to get cash on collection,as i have heard of people then claiming their money back through paypal saying they have not received the item.

Yes cash on collection is much much better for the seller, however you cannot insist on it if buyer chooses to pay by paypal.

Livestock is not a usually scammed item, so it might well not be worth worrying about too much if you are talking low prices.

hmm, that is a bit expensive then. Well all you can do is try and negotiate with buyer to use cash or take the risk. If buyer refuses to use cash though, and he is perfectly entitled to refuse, all you can do is refuse to sell- that leaves you with your FVFs of £4 and a probable neg.

I have taken a paypal payment for more than that before now on a collection item, but I do know my own comfort zone and I trusted the buyer as his reason for using paypal was a good one. I also took that risk as soon as I listed my item as I knew what it was likely to go for.

There is no harm in gently trying to talk him into cash- maybe even offer a small discount (after all you save on paypal fees) for cash.

If you do try and talk to him don't tell him about the probable scam. You risk him taking that to mean he himself is a scammer - which is not going to make him trust you either.
