Empire Stores charging for returns

Hi.
I received delivery from Empire stores yesteray and on the invoice it says that returns made via the post office will incur a £1 charge payable on your next statement.
I have never had this before although I have not ordered anything from them since January.
It does give you the mobile number of the courier you can phone to collect your items free of charge but you will still be paying for the price of the mobile call.
Maybe they are hoping to stop the people who order the same item in different sizes.

i've noticed that too, it also applies to vertbaudet and redoute catalogues (same group as empire).
my courier provides a landline number though.'bad mothers club' member 13

You can arrange returns online as well.0

I didn't know that you could arrange them online that should make it easier.
I have never used the courier collection as it means that you have to wait in for a collection instead of the convenience of just dropping it off at the PO as you're passing.0 -
im a courier for empire. You can arrange a safe place to leave the parcel (garage, porch, shed etc) and then you wont need to stay in.0

i put parcels behind my wheelie bin - nobody can see them but the courier knows where to look.
just have to make sure i don't arrange a pick-up on bin day!'bad mothers club' member 13
