Best shares to invest into for short term??

Can anyone who has good knowledge of trading please advise me as to which shares are worth buying now which will give me some investment in coming days?

Thanks

Day trading is pure gambling. Even the best struggle to make it profitable.
  • What could you recommend is it better to invest over weeks or months? And I was only looking to invest about £1000 as I am new to all this? Would that be worth it?

    Hi shamaila,

It's best to invest over years, to be honest. The market goes up and down like a fiddler's elbow in the short term, and will drive you daft if you're trying to make a quick profit.

I have a range of shares. When I look at them individually they might go up 30% in a month (I have one now that's done that) or go down 20% in a day (see above). Having a whole bunch of different companies, which trade in different markets, helps to even all this out. This means I end up with far more gentle up and down swings in my share values.

Anyway, all to say, I think you need to read up a wee bit on how equity/share markets work. Until then, stick your cash in the bank (look for the highest interest)!

    Cheers.

If you are looking for quick gain then you will risk big losses. It's gambling really although with good research you can get better odds than picking our four legged friends.

I would suggest you need to look for shares that will bounce. Sometimes the market marks down shares in mass hysteria and that leads to a recovery (or even a dead cat bounce) once sanity sinks in. There have been several this year. I've had success with Avocet and Lamprell but at times wait weeks and even months without anything standing out as worth a punt.

Also be aware that this game needs dedication. You need to watch minute by minute and sell when you have your profit. Dead cats do not bounce for very long :)

But enjoy your GAMBLING if that is what you want to do

ps: Sorry ust read that you have £1000. The costs of trading at that level short term will eat any profits you might with luck get.
I believe past performance is a good guide to future performance

There is no way anyone can identify shares that will increase in value over days. Its pretty obvious when you think about it - if people could then they would already have bought the shares and the price would have risen to the point where it would no longer provide the profit predicted.

In a few days prices can on average drop about as much as they can rise - its pretty much a 50:50 gamble. Taking into account the costs of trading on only £1000 you might as well try the roulette wheel - at least you would have an evening out and not be stuck on your computer.
