Holiday with 6 Month old Baby

Hi,
Looking at going on holiday abroad in September. My wife and I have recently had a baby girl and she will be 6 months old by then. Can you recommend somewhere warm (not too hot) with plenty to do, suitable for a young baby, and not too long a flight.
We are used to flamboyant holidays abroad such as Dubai. Egypt, Las Vegas, Hawaii, etc and a little unsure where would be suitable. We have thought of Spain, but don't want to end up with all the chavs.
Any ideas?

6 month old babies honestly don't do very much, so anywhere that you want to go (which isn't too ridiculously hot) will probably be absolutely fine.
We took our daughter to Spain when she was 4 months old. It's easy enough to choose a non-chav resort if you avoid cheap all inclusive hotels IMHO.0 -
I wouldn't worry about flying long haul with a young baby. Last month we flew to Perth via Dubai with our ten month old. Biggest problem we had was going through security with his baby milk!!
The added bonus is they put you in the first row of economy so you get the extra legroom!Matched betting profits since 11/10/06 = £1,5540 -
How about the Azores? slighlty different and a mid range flight I also dont think chavs have found it yet..lolIf you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel0

Oh yes, the baby milk thing is a right stupid fiasco.
How it makes sense to make you open up sealed milk cartons, taste them, and then ... er ... do what the heck with the milk? D'oh!0 -
I wouldn't worry about going long haul either. Iwas fretting so much last year in November as I have a 12month old and had booked to go to Thailand (12 hour flight). She was absolutely fantastic.
On the way their she was easily entertained and on the way back she slept the whole way and even the 3 hour car journey from Heathrow.
My only tip would be going anywhere. Take plenty of Jar food. Even though she was 12 months and weaned I was still worried about her eating as Thai food is very salty. I took enough Jars with me to last 5 days (we were gone a month) and then looked for more out there. It was very hard to come by. In Bangkok there was only one store so we stocked up and then in Phuket we had to travel to another so again stocked up.
I know it is hard but you will enjoy. Another tip I was given, we took a baby back pack carrier with us (liteweight) as well as a pushchair. This was a god send and so glad we got it. It was £2 of ebay.TopCashback £1792.63My Little World0 -
I would recommend La Manga Club in Spain. This is the first holiday we had abroad with a baby. We have returned many times since and are going again in May. We also like exotic destinations and have just been to Florida.
At La Manga Club we always booked a private villa which have everything you would have at home. The resort is very exclusive so you avoid the yobbo scenario. It is a world renowned golf, tennis & football resort, where many 'famous' sports stars visit or have villas there. check out http://www.lamanga.com/ if you chose here you would not be disappointed.0 -
We've been to Florida once with a 9 month old and once with the gang (6months approx, 22months and 4year old approx) with no problems. At six months its easy they sleep or eat, lol! You get bulkhead seats and can order a Skycot so you dont have to hold them all through the flight.
Again only problems with taking baby milk, didn't take much for DS1 first time we went and had a nightmare trying to find right milk to buy as they have lots of things added in Florida (like Iron). Second time DD1 was on a special milk as she can't absorb fats from food, we had a whole suitcase full of tetrapak individual cartons which had to go in the cabin - now that was fun!
This time we are taking DS1 aged 6, DS2 aged 4, DD1 aged 3 and DD4 aged 6months to Spain (yes with the chavs). Easy this time though as no milk to take, lol!
So pick anywhere in the world, just because you have a child doesn't mean you can't still enjoy far away places. Just use common sense and think that babies feel the heat and can't cool themselves down. Watch the water (but you would be steralizing anyway if bottle feeding). Why not pick somewhere seanic and different (we went to Switzerland in the Summer and that was fabulous)!0
