Benefit - redundant

:eek: Husband has just been told (yesterday) that his work will cease to exist at the end of Jan but that they can only guarantee 1 mths work, so probably finishing on the 8th December.

All we know is that redundancy packages will be sent out in the post. We've heard that apparently accepting voluntarily redundancy can affect claiming JSA, is that true?

We're assuming its just better he stick out the next mth and finish then with the redundancy package they will offer, then will be okay to claim JSA?

We know he won't get anything else, been in this situation before, 3 years ago and all he got was JSA, we couldn't claim anything else.

Yes accepting a voluntary reduncancy can affect JSA. Much easier to stick it out then it won't be voluntary any more.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

Voluntary redundancy will not lead to a JSA sanction, it is treated in the same way as compulsory redundancy.

It won't affect JSA but do you have any insurance?
  • You mean income insurance?
