Offer accepted, next steps?

Hi just a little help please,
We have had an offer accepted on a house what are the next steps?
I have sorted out what mortgage I want to get but have not been able to apply for it yet as I am on holiday.
i have contacted a number of solicitors for quotes, I need to sort out a survey of the building, is this one of the first things that needs doing before the mortgage?
We have a 50% deposit and good credit history so shouldn’t be a problem getting accepted.
Have I missed anything?

It's worth running an advanced search, this has been asked many times before. Supplying solicitor's details to the estate agent are usually the first thing you do, ideally you would have got estimates before offering. Second thing is mortgage application, most people have the survey done by the surveyor who is doing the lender's valuation but you can organise your own if you have received a personal recommendation. Do you have a mortgage in principle?Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

Next step is go to your local library and borrow a book on buying property.
It will talk you through the whole process and won't cost you a penny!0 -
Thanks G_M very helpful especially since I am on holiday and my spanish isn’t the best.. I thought these forums were for asking advice sorry if I got that wrong.
Fire fox thank you will pass on the solicitors details once I get back, no I don’t have a mortgage in principal as I wasn’t expecting the offer to be accepted to be honest. Sorting out the mortgage on monday.0 -
I had no way of knowing you were on holiday, and as it's a UK forum, it's a fair assumption that posters are in the UK.Thanks G_M very helpful especially since I am on holiday and my spanish isn’t the best.. I thought these forums were for asking advice sorry if I got that wrong.
My advice was sound. There a whole lot of things that will happen, things you need to do/organise, and a multitude of possible further issues that might arise.
additionally, the number of posts we get here indicate that many people have questions about what their professionals (solicitor/surveyor/mortgae lender) are doing, or what their advice means.
A good book on the topic will help you understand ALL of this as the weeks go by.
If the library option is not practical, try Amazon?0 -
No problem, thought you were being a typical arsy poster you sometimes get on these forums and I suppose you are right that getting a book would be worth while.
Mind you I haven't been in a public library since I was 14.0
