Android 4.0 tablet screen frozen help please

Hi,
My daughters' android tablet screen has been frozen all day, nothing i press is doing anything, it is showing the screen to turn it off but its not responded after trying on and off all day. It has frozen before but usually rights itself when i turn it off but now i can't even do that.... can anybody help me please cos I'm at my wits end with it and have a very unhappy daughter :-(

What do you mean "trying it on and off all day"? Do you mean you've been turning the tablet on and off or you've been turning the screen on and off?

If the latter, turn the tablet completely off, if its anything like mine, holding down the power button for 20seconds+ turns it off completely.

What tablet is it?

They normally have some reset mechanism which usually does the trick.

Mine is something like "hold volume up and power buttons simultaneously for 7 seconds".

It would be a lot easier if you could just take the battery out.

I can turn it off on the short power down but when it comes back on its still froze, i cant do the long power down bit.

Ive just tried the volume and power button and its worked, thank you soooooo much! I agree, if you could take the battery out it would be great!
