I don't think its special sweets as long as their wrapped and got ends on (twisted bit) then i think it would work. So the £/99p shop would be fine. I'm not sure how many you would need looks like a lot.0

Yes any sweets with a twisted end you can tie on would do. It does need loads of sweets and it takes a long time to do, but it lasts for ages and is very effective. Its one of those things everyone remembers.0

You could probably do a smaller version by cutting the hanger smaller?0

Hi just about to have a go, do I cover the polystrene ball with something? Im hoping to make a malteeser tree:think:0

If you are making trees with malteesers, i would do half at a time, brush chocolateon the ball, quite thick, then put a litttle on the sweet, let it set on the ball a little before putting on the sweets, this will help them stay i place ! hope this helps. I tyied it with dolly mixtures and other sweets, they set on fine, but the chocolate spoilt the taste of the sweets. I'd use a decent chocolate, not cooking !0

I've tried brushing melted chocolate on the ball and then putting a little on the sweet to attach it, my only concern is some of the ball comming away with the sweet. Tonight i have covered the ball in coloured rice paper, stuck to the ball with icing brushed on. tomorrow i will attempt to attach the sweets! will keep you posted on the results.
The rice paper did not work !!0
