School playgrounds are always the places for Mums to brag, unintentionally of course
. Children may have written a list and automatically say they are getting those items whereas in real terms they probably won't. Please don't beat yourself up. Buy what you can afford. Having a happy family home is far more memorable for them than a toy they desperately wanted, played with over Christmas and then it got put into the back of the cupboard/wardrobe! It happens all the time! 0 -
Since I became a single parent I have had a 4 present rule. Something you want, something you need, something to watch, something to read.
Then the children get their stockings filled with little bits and a present from Santa.
I dont spend a lot, and I am quite lucky that my children dont seem to be wanters, DS1 who is nearly 12 wants the new copy of the Guinness book of Records. My DD wants a doll from the Disney Store which I got at a reduced price and a cinderella dress which I got with vouchers.
We do go away somewhere at Christmas for the main present, and it works for us.SPC #1813

It depends on what you've done in the past, if you've always bought 50 presents then went to 10, maybe the kids would notice, but if 10 is the norm for you, thats fine. Every family has a different idea on what the right amount of presents is.
Exactly this. I have never let myself be dictated to by what other families do, you make your own "traditions" for your own family.0
