Company recruiting after making redundancies

Hi,
My other half was made redundant mid August of this year. He was told it was because they were over staffed and that they didn't need staff anywhere else within the company. What it really came down to was that he has Crohns and they thought he was a drain on the company but of course they made sure they covered their backs so we couldn't prove anything. I have just been on their website out of interest and see that they are now recruiting for what they call a sales executive (his job title was counter sales assistant) I'm guessing there is nothing he can do about it dispite beiung told they were getting rid of him due to being over staffed?? He still hasn't managed to find another job

Well the job titles are completely different.
Tell him to apply for the job. See what happens.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
My only recommendation would be to get some professional advice. Fast. Very Fast.
On the assumption your OH didn't sign a compromise agreement and waive their rights you only have 3 months to take the case to an employment tribunal from the date of dismissal.
If your OH was made redundant because of his illness and if the advertised role is the same you probably have the potential for a claim and/or re-instatement. But you need to do initiate any claim fast.
In the first instance I'd try and find a qualified solicitor to advise whether you have a case or not, or contact ACAS. Alternatively if your OH was a union member approach the union ASAP.0
