Could be, have you had him checked by the vet? Is there anything in the enclosed leaflet about this effect?

I stopped using Advantage and have put my dogs back on Frontline because not only were the dogs still scratching but one of them developed bald patches in the area where I put the drops.

There is a flea treatment available in tablet form - called Capstar, it's made by the same firm that produce Program. I have only just discovered it, but will probably give it a try as one of my Maine Coons get bald spots after I use Advantage.

However, it's short-acting, about 24 hours (although it can be used as often as once a day) so better for the occasional bout of fleas! It isn't taken up by the animal's body at all but makes their skin release a substance toxic to fleas. It's often used in grooming parlours and kennels in the U S to stop infested animals passing on their fleas to other animals.

  • Thanks guys, zacsmum same here!i put on the back of his neck and all around that area he has been scratching and getting bald raw patches, it looks awful and v sore!
Thanks ka7e we once used the johnsons version of that tablet on our other cat and it was really good withing an hour she was itching and it was causing the fleas to drop off dead or become v sluggish so I could pick them off her.
I have found a website where I can buy advocate without a prescription and at a fraction of the price, and as both cats were fine using that I think I will just go for that!
