I have just downloaded this new version of Mozilla, no problem with it so far for basic use. (You can choose to customize it if you know what you're doing!)

It imports your old settings, though I did copy my bookmarks to CD before installing it.Torgwen..........

If anyone wants to get rid of the new engines in the search field (linked to the American Amazon, Ebay etc.) just delete the them in C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\searchplugins (delete the src file and the gif that goes with the engine you want rid of)
While I was doing this I also right-clicked the google uk gif and edited it a little with paint so I can finally tell them apart (if you've installed the Google and GoogleUK search plugins they show the same logo - gets a bit confusing)0 -
Just to remind anyone who hasn't been to Mozilla before that the browser is called Firefox. I've used it for the past 6 months and been VERY pleased with it from the earliest version right through to the new one. It's so fast compared to IE, automatically blocks popups, is easily configured and extended and its so easy to review and control cookies and security. I now only use IE for accessing the MS sites to load software updates as it refuses to download unless you do.
I installed the latest version for a friend who was very impressed with it. Part of the installation allows you to copy your 'Favorites' from IE and other browsers you are using (they're called Bookmarks in Firefox). Everything worked well and quickly.
It's good to be so pleased with a piece of software and it's free as well!Nice to save.0 -
PS What I forgot to say was that anyone who used an old version of the Mozilla browser (above about a year ago) may not recognise the name. It was then just Mozilla. Then the new browser started life as Firebird (from the ashes of the old browser?) and now Firefox after some trade mark problems with Firebird.Nice to save.0

I believe there is now an extension to do windows update from firefox see http://www.extensionsmirror.nl/index.php?act=portal&site=2
I havn't tried it yet so cannot give the thumbs up.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -
Pity it can't display the drop down menus on top right of http://support.microsoft.com. But that is the fault of Microsoft for flouting web standards, not Firefox and there is probably an extension which makes these menus work.0

The only help I can give here is to download IEView from http://www.extensionsmirror.nl/index.php?act=portal&site=2
When you right click on the page, the last item is "view this page in IE" Can be useful for substandard pages.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0
