please advice re:parking fines

I have been receiving letters from bailiffs asking me to pay £3000 in regards to parking fines.I was unaware of these tickets as my husband used to drive my car.My husband left 6 months ago and I have no means to pay the money asked.I called the council and they were not at all helpful.I do have a car worth about £1000.Please if anyone can tell me what to do.The stress I go through in fear of my car being clamped is beyond words.

They do charge about a tenner but they are the bees knees.
Get the car out of site or they will clamp it.

First of all are you sure these people are bailiffs.
Has the matter been to court.
Is the car in your name.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
