My local store was shocking. 10% Off a selection of items, is this how they expect to sort the problem?

I wouldn't get too excited my views are exactly like those in the link Santer posted.

LOL....that was filmed on Old Kent Road, London....the same place I went to last week when it was announced on the radio about the sales.....many went there on Saturday to pick up a bargain only to be told by staff that HQ had not authorised any price cuts (even though the radio stations were announcing them). Hence my wording of Official....which now means crap reductions!!!

The Comet closing down sale - where you can buy goods 10% to 20% dearer than anywhere else!
This just about sums up the whole retail ethos of Comet.

LOL. So that's why they're going under!!!! To me, if they are not doing their marketing, pricing, etc properly they deserve to go under. Lack of customer service and over-pricing and they wonder "What are we doing wrong?"!!!

The administrators, not Comet themselves, have directed the sale to raise money. Comet is in administration, not trading normally.

Your suggestion is that they spend lots of money on marketing?

I think the suggestion is that they be competitive if they want to rake in some dosh from the stock. ;)

May well have "reservation of title" on it by the suppliers if it hasn't been paid for by Comet, and not theirs to sell.. They could take the stock back effectively.

I am sure the good stuff, they have paid for, will be sold in bulk to to another distributor.

What they do sell, really cheaply, will probably be dregs.

I would prefer to pay a fuller price and get the afters sales support, if needed, personally

Well we were very pleased to get 30% off the latest Humax YouView box for £195 down from £279. £249 is about the lowest price we have found online for it. But many large items only had 10% off and would imagine that there was at least 10% to come off the price previously if you had haggled - so no saving, yet people are buying.
