Wheelspin Woes

Hi

İ have a 2002 Mitsubishi Pajero io (Shogun Pinin), i've always been aware that the back end is v light, but now that the hot weather is with us over here, she wheelspins at the slightest touch of the accelerator.

Tyre pressures are correct and the Shock absorbers are in good cond (only 22,000 kms), gave a lift to 2 ''Plump'' aunts yesterday and the car was much better, short of carrying a bag of cement in the boot full time what can i do??

I'd be tempted to run the rear tyres as low as I could [within the parameters of the recommentions] on the downside, you may well wear them out quicker but by how much is hard to say.

Sounds really odd as the Pinin is not exactly a performance car so the fact you can get wheel spin surprises me. Are you asure the tyre pressures are correct (not getting bar and PSI confused etc) Failing that I would ask the dealer to give it a once over to check the suspension?

Or it may be a sensor problem.

Check the tyre shape - one of mine was deformed and used to spin fairly easily. That was on a full size Paj, but the drive is the same as the Pinin.
