Electrians - Part P?

Hi one and all
Please do not tear me limb from limb in case someone has alluded to this elsewhere. Quick part P qu. We have had work done in the past and got all certificated (last year) but it was work to replace the fusebox, etc. If we wanted to change some lights and front plates does this also need to be carried out by a part P registered electrician (or rather, do we need to get a certificate)?
Also - Most electricians have a standard price for replacing lights (3 ceiling lights in this case) and changing front plates (standard to those new stainless steel flush ones so bigger back boxes may be required) - about 12 in total - any ideas of what a fair price would be???
Thanks!
Thanks!

you don't need to get part p certificates as you are changing like for like, you don't need bigger back boxes all are the same standard size unless you mean you are changing from single to double, couldn't give you a price but the work should be easy enough to do 2 - 3 hours max.0

You won't need to get this certified.
I couldn't say whether you would need bigger backboxes for the new switches without looking. I changed one a few weeks ago and needed a deeper back box. The new switch took up more room as it was a dimmer as opposed to a normal.
It may take longer than 3 hours but that's the right ballpark IMO.
When ceiling light fittings are being changed it is important to ensure a secure fix to the ceiling, especially if the new ones are heavy (images of Only Fools and Horses come to mind...). To this end I often insert a timber spreader - short piece of 2x1 or similar, and screw the fitting through the ceiling board if necessary and into this. It takes a little longer but I know the customer is not relying on the plasterboard to retain the fitting. Hence the weight is not an issue. And before anyone says "How much do you expect a ceiling rose and pendant to weigh?" - don't forget that thecustomer will choose the shade when we've gone.Behind every great man is a good womanBeside this ordinary man is a great woman£2 savings jar - now at £3.42:rotfl:0 -
Is not applicable for the direct replacement of fittings.
Please ensure that the earth (cpc=circuit protective conductor) is fitted to any metalic switch plates and fittings.
Ask your electrician to provide a certificate, in the event of 'shock or fire' insurers will ask for upto date information.

Hi
Thanks for that. Sorry Alan 50 - you said it doesnt need to be certificated but that I may need a certificate to give to my insurer? So I dont have to use someone who is part p registered? What is the type of certificate I need to ask for?
Thanks0
