American Express Gold Card £125 Annual Charge

I got one of these about 7 months ago, and as a promo the first years fee (£125 pa) was waived.
Now I quite like this card, as it lets me collect reward (hence avios) points, and allows me a little leeway until the end of the month BUT once this year is up, I don't think I like it enough to pay £125 pa for the priviledge of having one!
So basically, my question is, do you think there is any chance of having this fee waived or reduced?
In the past 6 months I have prob spent about £7k on my card, tho this is quite high as £3k was on a new kitchen and £1 was on holiday in the States.
So my average spend would prob be about £6k a year, all paid back on time and in full.
Cheers!

Highly doubt it... Call them, but be prepared to be disappointed.0

Interested to hear how you get on as I have the same card fee free and not sure if it will be worth keeping for the second year. Loving the £5 cashback promo at the moment though!0

Sorry about that!
I'm off shortly for a cheap lunch at Rasa Sayang in China Town...

Amex are more likely to give bonus MR points than reduce or waive the fee but generally they dont tend to do anything in year one as it otherwise sets a precedent that they wont want to follow.
Ultimately phone them and see what they say.0 -
I had this card in past and I tried to negotiate with Amex waiving the fee. 2 years ago it was halved without the problem and I also got double points for 6 months. In 2012 they said they can't really do anything about the fee, they offered me 6K points for staying for another year.
I resigned as I have free BMI Card for miles.0 -
If you're only wanting it for the Foursquare offers, why not convert it to a Basic Card with no annual fee?0
