How can I scan a document small size Jpeg file

I need to scan & upload a document on line, the max size of the file to upload is 1MB but when I scan it, its much over 1mb. what should I do?

There should be an option in your scanner software to turn down the dpi/quality.

Or run the file you have through something like this http://www.picresize.com/

Either resize the scanned image or deduce the resolution of your scanner. (It's probably set to 600 dpi (or higher) Drop this down to around 150 dpi - you may need to experiment to get a decent quality.)

Make sure you're scanning in black/white, not greyscale or colour.

What ISP limits your attachment file size to 1MB?
10MB and upwards is pretty much standard these days.
GMail, for example, is 25MB.

Do you have an option to scan as .pdf?

Either scan direct to pdf if this is an option or scan to jpeg then convert the jpeg to pdf.

Converting jpeg to pdf will reduce the file size considerably and there are a few free programs that enable you to convert files to pdf.
