I was looking at the Samsung Note 10.1" wifi version, the one with the stylus pen, in a shopping mall a couple of weeks ago. The guy demonstrated it to me along with what I think was the 10.1" Tab 2.
One of them was able to recognise speech and it would type what was being said to it. I tried it and it was very good in fact. But I cannot remember which of the two tablets it was. I think it was the Note 10.1"? Can anyone confirm this for me please and is this a standard feature of whichever piece of kit it is?

I have a Note 10.1 and it does voice to text. One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0

Having done a quick Google it looks like they both do it. Not surprising really as my Galaxy S2 phone does it too.
I find it a lot quicker for texting than typing with my fat fingers! One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0 -
Thanks for the information. Did this come as standard with the kit or did you have to download an app to get it to do it?0

Cant comment for the Note but the GS2 I dotn recall downloading an app. If it helps its the voice talk option. If an app was t be downloaded then it was definitely free, might have had to download the speech recognition part but not sure.0 -
Does the Note 10.1 offer the more advanced S-voice? That's what came to mind when reading the topic, had a quick search but it's not clear whether it's been added later or some people have added it themselves.

I'm not sure, but confirmed with Samsung UK that both Tab and Note has this. However, this afternoon I went to PC World and mentioned it to them. They said it didn't have it on but then he downloaded some app or other for it and it seemed to do it in some form, ie he could tell it to find something and it would bring Google up and it was a bit hit and miss. Whereas whatever the guys in Glasgow had on theirs was much better and it readily understood what you were saying to it and transcribed it into written words.0
