Wowcher deal - not happy

Can anyone tell me if I have any redress on a "groupon" type voucher. I paid £15 for a hairdresser to colour my hair and "shellac" my nails. I turned up for my appointment, she applied the colour and it turned out totally different to the one I wanted. While waiting for my colour to "take" a young girl did my "shellac" nails, which are supposed to last up to a month. The varnish bubbled the next day so that was a waste of time. The hairdresser apologised and booked in another appointment for the following week. As its 5 miles from my house I called them the day before to double check she had my appointment in the diary. The owner wasn't there and I spoke to the young girl again who said nothing was in the diary. I called an hour before I was due to go to the appointment but the mobile phone rang out. I've given up now but am angry at the waste of money and time this has caused me and of course I'll now have to go to a professional hairdressers to have it done again. Where do I go from here?

I think as you bought the services from Wowcher and Wowcher had the contract fulfilled by the hairdresser, it's Wowcher that's legally liable for getting you a refund for incompetent service (not being nasty, that's just the technical term).

I'd get in contact with their customer support team and demand a refund and compensation towards having to have your hair recoloured, on account of the fact that a) your contract is with them and b) they should really be vetting the quality of the contractors they are advertising.

Hope this helps at all, please do keep posting about how you're getting on :)

  • Hi,
As Sortika states yes your contract is with Groupon/Wowcher not the shop/service (they will simply pass you back to the voucher provider)that your deal is for.It definitely needs to be a written letter/email as in Fire fox's answer.
In my experience out of the two wowcher have a much better customer service in resolving the problems in your favour.
Whereas I have found with Groupon they will send you an automated email to thank you for getting in touch & then you hear nothing more!
In my case with them I had to resend email with 2nd,3rd attempt etc as my subject title. IMO it's so that you forget or give up trying.
I hope that you get this resolved in your favour and get your hair and nails looking great and I totally agree with Sortika about compensation for the reasons given.
    Good luck.
