I have incurred bad debts through my business and you just have to take them on the chin, learn from them and move on.
As others have said, you need to make sure that you are on the creditors list, though I haven't personally had any joy with this. If you don't have any luck you also need to get the bad debt written down by your accountant.
In terms of learning from the situation, in my case I should have noticed that invoices were progressively taking longer to pay. I have also over-priced a job I didn't want because I thought the firm were on the brink and they did go under. Use what you've learned, what you sensed, make sure you can apply that in the future. If you can learn this now from an £800+ish debt it will save you doing it from a £5k one or bigger in the future. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Charming...I posted something very personal and worrying to me here to see if I could get some help...NOT ridicule. Seriously a rotfl smiley!! And never ever in a million years would I ever describe myself as or think of myself as mighty. If you have nothing constructive to say....why bother!?
If you have got so much money sitting around then why does the prospect of losing £725 keep you awake all night.
It would maybe make me angry but it wouldn't stop me snoring my head off and I don't have £40k lying around.0 -

The £40k is no longer 'lying around', we haven't bought another property, and no longer have any intention of doing so. I'm truly glad for you that the prospect of losing £1,500 wouldn't keep you awake, I just guess that's where you and I differ...trust me, I wish I could be the same.0 -
If worrying over the non-payment of 3 invoices totalling only £725 from almost 2 months ago prevents you from sleeping, why have you let it go for so long, and why did you supply a further £850 worth of business just last week?
As above, get yourself on the register of creditors.
Some payers do pay late. In any small company, including my own, we have to chase certain customers each and every week to pay, other just pay, albeit on deadline day.
So some will owe two invoices, while otehrs pay in 30 days.I hvae nt snept th lst fw mntes writg ths post fr yu t cme alng hre nd agre wth m!
