Mortgage company struck off

  • Apollogies for the really stupid question!!! The company i believe that has been struck off is called Web Resolutions and the new company is Lapthius. When lapthius took over the account there were some arrears which i have since cleared anrd are now on normal payments
  • OK, by the looks of it you were with Webb Resolutions who were a non-FSA registered company, who have sold the loan to Lapithus who are registered with the FSA - 533262. I would suggest looking at this link

    http://www.lapithus.co.uk/mortgage/faq.htm

It would appear everything is above board, however there are contact details on there so if you have any doubt contact them and speak to them direct. Your payments will need to be made.

  • The letter i recieved from Lapithus says they are acting on behalf of eebb resolutions? Is this allowed seems that webb resolutions are not on the fsa register?! If Lapithus have purchased the dept, does me having no loan agreement or contract with them mean i dont have to pay them??
  • Please see the link I put up:

Here is one question on their FAQ's

Q:Is it legal to buy and sell loans?
A: Yes, it is common practice in the market and it is stated in your terms and conditions that it can occur.

There is also a FAQ on loans as well as mortgages.

You are 100% liable to continue your repayments - there is no getting out of it. It is legitimate and above board, so it is time to maintain payments

When a company buys another company, your contract doesnt change. The logo in the corner of the letterhead may but you still have a debt to pay.

The responses are a bit harsh, even by my standards, but the reason is that we do frequently see people trying to use the flimsiest excuse to get out of paying their legal debts. Those that have been here a long time can get jaded with the number of times you see people trying it on. The lack of morals is something that gets to you after a while. bigmatt1174 is basically how most of the other posters were 4 or 5 years ago. Give him time and he will become just as jaded too ;)

Why are the 3 responses above so crass? You can see the person is a newbie and you find it funny to take the michael? Have you ever thought that this could be a scam and that some people could fall for it. Having just done a google search and looked on various industry websites, I cannot find a lender being struck off the FSA register, so this is potentially a scam and someone being asked to provide bank details so they can be taken to the cleaners.
I am totally fed up with the attitude of people in this supposedly great nation that they think they don't have to pay their bills because ... well because of nothing.

    It stinks.
  • It was actually a valid question - he stated do I have to pay the new lender and the old lender, and a bit of sensible questioning got the answers he was looking for!
